The Analyst and the Analytic Couch

The Analyst and the Analytic Couch For the past 30 years I have practiced as a Psychotherapist, in addition I’m training to become a Psychoanalyst. I see patients twice, three, four, five times a week to help alleviate painful feelings and emotions, so that they may know themselves on a much deeper level.

This collaborative relationship helps you to begin to understand the historical patterns of dysfunctional relationships, self-defeating behaviors, and low self-esteem that may permeate your life. Psychotherapy is usually done face to face and sometimes on a couch. Psychoanalysis is done on an analytic couch made to provide comfort so that you can feel free to say whatever is on your mind and you don’t need to look at each other throughout the sessions except upon greeting and leaving.
